What We Are Funding
The Alex Bhak Experiential Learning Fellowship in the Arts and Humanities
In the fall of 2021, the ANB Foundation partnered with Columbia Grammar and Preparatory School, Alex’s high school, to launch an annual experiential learning fellowship program that supports students who are dedicated to fueling their curiosity and sense of wonder through self-designed immersive experiential learning opportunities beyond the classroom.
All students in grades 10-12 can apply for funds to venture outside the classroom to explore and reflect upon questions they have on a particular topic in the humanities, inspired by classes or other avenues in their lives. This real-world learning often takes the form of travel, museum visits, interviews, seminars, and performances. In the spring, families and community members gather to learn about students’ experiences and discuss the new questions that have emerged from their work.
This Fellowship reflects the Foundation’s belief in experiential learning and its importance in Alex’s own education. By supporting student-designed projects in the arts and humanities, the Fellowship fosters curiosity, reflection, and creative independence. We are proud to partner with Alex’s school on a program that encourages students to follow their interests and discover the joy of learning through exploration.

Alex Nair Bhak A’19 Tisch Summer Fellows Scholarship at Tufts University
In 2025, the ANB Foundation provided a grant to establish an endowed scholarship within the Tisch Summer Fellows (TSF) program at Tufts University. The Foundation’s support will enable undergraduate students to pursue immersive, hands-on learning opportunities with mission-driven organizations that may not have the resources to offer paid internships. These summer internship placements are hosted within community-based advocacy groups, national nonprofits, government agencies, or with elected officials. In addition to these placements, Fellows also engage in skill-building workshops, roundtable discussions, and reflection sessions designed to foster personal growth, civic awareness, and leadership.
Each year, a student who demonstrates deep intellectual curiosity, leadership, and generosity among peers, will receive a scholarship in Alex’s name. We are so proud to support this program and carry forth Alex’s passion to learn, inspire, and create communities among his peers.

Bringing Poetry to Life Through Animation
The ANB Foundation is proud to support anyone lived in a pretty how town, an animated short film directed by award-winning Daniel Kreizberg, a classmate of Alex, and based on the poem by E.E. Cummings. Narrated by Dr. Jane Goodall, animated in an impressionistic style inspired by Cummings’ own artwork, and with a soundtrack by the acclaimed recordings of maestro Yakov Kreizberg, the film is a meditation on connection — to ourselves, to each other, and to the natural world.
This project reflects the Foundation’s commitment to the arts and thoughtful creative expression. As a longtime fan of poetry, Alex deeply appreciated the way language can shape thought and emotion. We are honored to support a film that brings poetry to life and carries forward Alex’s love of art, introspection, and storytelling.
